"This roll-on surprised me with how quickly it works. It does work on contact to relieve most muscle pain. I've used it on my calf muscles after a long hike, on my shoulders, and on my neck. I've recently had problems with a strained lumbar muscle, and this helps with that too although not as much as with other pain. I think the deeper the pain, the less effective this may be.
